Trump: The Shortest Presidency In American History By Hannatu Musawa

Barely a month in the Oval, Donald Trump has plunged the US as well as the rest of the world into a frenzied pandemonium. Just under 3-weeks in office, the erratic reality show star, and internet troll, with an obviously unstable persona and dreadful comb-over hairdo, has brought about policies that are threatening to tear the US apart and tilt nations to the precipice of war. Internationally, his tweets, utterances, actions and policies could likely engender real global mayhem.
The president, with his infamous extravagant pomposity, since assuming office has
been attacking anyone and everyone that challenges him. During the electioneering process he went after the press, the intelligence community, and now the latest being the American judiciary. From the many disturbing aspects of his controversial and dizzying first two weeks as president, a theme is emerging that, in the long run, may prove disastrous for the US and the entire world at large.
Just 7-days into his presidency, he signed a controversial executive order that suspended admission of refugees and denied entry to citizens of Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, citing security concerns surrounding terrorism. The following day, thousands of protesters rightly gathered at airports and other locations throughout the US and the world to protest the signing of the order and detainment of people at the airports. Now because of this order, Muslims, Arabs or anyone who looks like one are being persecuted and treated like animals.
There are crimes committed in every part of the world, horrific crimes that must indisputably be put to a stop. But discriminating and dividing against an entire religion, race and culture is not going to be the prevention or cure to terrorism. Instead, this is the exact action that will give the perpetrators more power, excuse and impetus to forge on. The terrorists wish to divide, to spread fear and hate, and The Idiot called Trump, with this order, has just handed it to them on a silver platter.
It is understandable that most world leaders want to stop terrorism, to stop terrorists from hurting and killing people. However, with this fiendish policy, Trump is inflicting his own brand of hurt and harm to millions of people.
Terrorists think that what they are doing is necessary to protect what they believe in. And in order to do that they use religion as an excuse to perpetuate hate. Trump, rather wrongly, is also trying to protect what he believes is right.
In doing this however, he is using his presidency as an excuse to perpetuate hate. He may not be able to see it because his brain has an inability to think rationally, but Trump and the Terrorist he claims he is trying to protect the American public from are on different sides of the same coin; a mirror image of each other.
Trump and the terrorist are both using division and destruction to achieve what they probably think is the greater good, in their warped reasoning. But, the greater good is to not perpetuate hate. More love, more understanding and more unity in this world, not mistrust and discrimination will pave the way for a safer, better and happier community.
In a clime where institutions holds sway over “strong men” the federal district judge in Washington suspended the so-called ‘Muslim ban’-causing causing Trump to fire off a mouth-full worth of furious attacks, warning that many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring “into our country.” However, in a video that has been circulating on social media, the federal judge James Robart, asked Trump’s/the government’s lawyer if there had been any terrorist attacks by people from the seven counties listed in the president’s order since 9/11. Apparently flushed with embarrassment, the lawyer’s lame response was that she didn’t know. Now if, since 9/11, no national from the 7-countries has performed a terrorist attack on the US, why impose travel restrictions on travelers from those countries?
The ban was even opposed by many Republican politicians and senators and had no backing or justification from the US intelligence community.
In a foreign policy embarrassment, Trump’s eccentric, maddening and undiplomatic character recently played out. On the 2nd of January, most headlines around the world had captions like “Trump hangs up on the Australian prime minister after tense talks”. During a 25-minute phone call, which was billed to last an hour, Trump reportedly berated the Australian prime minister and hung up on him. In international relations, no sane president does that. Given the deep ties between both countries, Trump has consequently put these ties in jeopardy with his action. This goes to show that the man at the helm of affairs of the “free world” is indeed a bully, uncouth, lacks decorum and succinctly put, is an unstable and ignorant individual.
In a similar incidence via a phone call with his Mexican counterpart, Trump reportedly threatened to send US troops to Mexico to stop “bad hombres down there”. In a leaked transcript of the call to the Mexican President, Trump in his words stated, “you have a bunch of bad hombres down there. You aren’t doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared. Our military isn’t, so I just might send them down to take care of it”. His statement exhibits the pomposity and bullying he is known for.
Thus far, Trump hasn’t exhibited a single ounce of the finesse associated with the presidential seat of America or any other sovereign nation, for that matter. He lacks decorum, social deportment and is a disgrace to the revered US presidential seat. The image and perception that the US president is seen as the leader of the free world is fast diminishing under Trump. A society, which prides itself, as the bastions of democracy, were human rights flourishes and all peoples, regardless of race, creed and gender are welcome, is fast turning into a facade under Trump. His administration is already bringing chaos to the international community and America is fast losing its prestige among the community of nations.
His racial and religious profiling and stereotyping shows just how vile and contemptuous the man is. Since coming to power, US relations with other countries and longtime allies are on a downturn. Latin American countries, China and many EU countries are very wary of the US under Trump. Islamic/Muslim countries relations are also becoming tense with prejudicial Muslim immigration policies. Domestically, there has been a surge in incivility – of Muslim men and women attacked in the streets, of swastikas painted on buildings and white supremacist openly holding gatherings and calling for the annihilation of particular races of Latin-American descent are being taunted about Trump’s ridiculous wall and The Ku Klux Klan has seen an unprecedented resurgence.
Many of the racial sentiments and superiority complex he is currently exhibiting are similar to that of Hitler and the Third Reich… “Yes, like Hitler!” Like Hitler, he is mostly concerned with shoring up his personality cult. One can’t imagine that any reasonably minded American citizen can be proud of their country with Trump leading it. They should be ashamed that they have unleashed a man so unapologetically and blatantly unmolested by enlightenment onto the world
One doesn’t need a soothsayer to know that Trump’s presidency will be a tyrannical one. And one doesn’t have to be Michel de Nostradamus to know that his presidency will likely be one of the shortest presidencies in American history. Yes, there is no doubt in my mind this loose cannon will not make it to or past four years as Commander-In-Chief.
