APC membership registration: Baraje, lawmakers mobilise Kwarans

By Ahmed Lateef
As the nationwide registration of new members of the All Progressives Congress starts today, a chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, has called on Nigerians, especially Kwarans to come out enmasse and register for the party in the exercise. He said it was only through registering for APC that they would make meaningful change in impacting good governance at all levels of administration in the country.
Baraje who was a former acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and now a member of the APC, enjoined Kwarans to seize the opportunity of fresh registration as a way of demonstrating their loyalty and support for Senator Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
He added that the APC registration card would be their political weapon to cast votes in the forthcoming elections in the country and praised the courage and uprightness of those that have so far defected to the APC particularly the new defector, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and members of the National Assembly.
He thanked Kwarans for solidly standing behind Senator Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, assuring them of more dividends of democracy, particularly in terms of Job creation.
Another chieftain of the APC, Dr Ali Ahmad representing Ilorin East/South Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, appealed to members of his constituency not to allow the opportunity provided by the party to elude them by coming out in large number to register for the APC.
Ahmad urged Kwarans not to be deceived by any individual or group of people stressing that with the Quick Win “programme of the Kwara State Government, more Job opportunities and empowerment would be provided.
In the same vein, Hon Moshood Mustapha representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, described the high number of Nigerians and lawmakers defecting to the APC, as a positive development for democracy in Nigeria.
Mustapha said dividends of democracy could only be achieved if Nigerians come out and register for the APC during  the registration exercise, which he said was the only weapon for positive change.
The nationwide registration exercise of new membership of the APC begins today and is expected to last for five days.
