Tambuwal blames leadership failure for Nigeria's woes

 The Speaker, Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Mallam Aminu Tambuwal has blamed the failure of political leadership for the challenges in the nation’s polity.
Speaking in Benin City at the public presentation of the two books co-authored by university dons in criminology and criminal justice, Prof. Patrick Igbinovia and his wife, Deaconess Edobor-Igbinovia, the Speaker who was represented by the member representing Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon Constituency, Hon. Samson Osagie, said the problem of the country was neither the absence of laws nor knowledge but the failure of political leadership.
He described the books “Oil Theft and Pipeline Vandalisation in Nigeria” and “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria An Appraisal”, as topical and appropriate at this time of Nigeria’s political history.
The state deputy governor ,(Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu who spoke on behalf of the governor described Professor Igbinovia as an erudite scholar who is doggedly committed to impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.
Reviewing the book on Oil Theft, the Vice Chancellor, Ambrose Alli University, Professor Cordelia Agbebaku said, the it assesses the performance of the anti-graft agency in its fight against corruption within the first 10 years.
The Dean, faculty of Law University of Benin, (UNIBEN) Professor Lawrence Atsegbua noted that the appraisal of EFCC examines among other issues, the general perception that the NNPC is a conduit for wastage of public funds.
In her remarks, the former Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN Professor Grace Alele-Williams said the books deal with some of the most critical issues in contemporary times.
