TOPIC:
EVIL CONSQUENCES OF
FONICATION AND ADULTRY (ZINA)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful,
the Especially Merciful.
To
proceed; Respected brothers and sisters in
Islam, today’s khutbah centered on: Evil consequences of fornication and
adultery (Zinaa).
Islam as a religion is very much concern of establishing descent
moral standard in individuals within the community, thus constituted many laws
that promote chastity and regulate strong
sexual desires that assist to
control it; Islam also encouraged
remaining firm in your Iman and warned against transgressing the limits of shariah laws by
all means.
Islam has preserved people’s dignity and protected families from
being mixed. Therefore, fornication and adultery are forbidden and classified
as major and destructive sins.
Islam has forbidden not only
committing zina but everything that could lead to it , such as mixing of the
opposite sexes, immoral exchange of looks between the two sexes, immoral words,
seductive moves between a man and a woman or
being in seclusion in a room, office, car, phone, shop, online and anything else which could lead to this
awful sin. Allah (SWT) says: “And do not come close to unlawful sexual
intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as away”. Q17: 32
Some of the verses and ahadith on fornication and adultery (zinaa)
includes:
1.
Zina
(fornication and adultry) is one of the highly self-destructive major sins in
Islam:
Allah says: “ And those who
do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right,
and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse (zina) and whoever should do that
will meet a penalty. Multiplied for him
is the punishment on the Day of resurrection, and he will abide therein
humiliated-” . Q25:68-69.
It was narrated by Ibn Mas’ud who said, “I asked the Messenger
of Allah (pbuh),“What is the most grievous sin in the sight of Allah?” He said,
“To associate others with Allah while He created you… and to commit adultery
with your neighbor’s wife.”
2. Adulterer
is one of the three people Allah [SWT] will not talk to in the day of
resurrection: “There are three people to whom Allah,
the Most High will not talk, nor will He forgive them of sins nor look at them:
an aged person guilty of adultery, a king who lies and a poor beggar who is
proud.” (Muslim)
3. It leads to severe punishment in both here
and hereafter. Allah SWT says:
"The un married woman and the un married man, found guilty of sexual
intercourse -flog each of them with a hundred lashes. Let not pity withhold you
in the religion of Allah if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a
party of the believers witness their punishment. [Quran, 24: 2] The punishment mentioned
in this verse concerns only single fornicators only. In case of married
adulterers (even if they experienced marriage before) they must be stoned until
death as carried out by the Prophet (SAW). But even if they escaped the worldly
punishment and died without making repentance, they will never go free in the
day of Qiyamah..
It was narrated from Samurah ibn Jundub in the long Hadith that the
prophet (S.A.W) said: “...I said to my
two companions, ‘Subhanallah! Who are these two persons?’ They said, ‘Move on!’
So we went on, and came to something like a tannoor (a kind of oven, lined with
clay, usually used for baking bread). We looked into it and saw naked men and
women. A flame of fire was reaching them from underneath, and when it reached
them, they cried out loudly. I asked who
are those o Gabriel he said: [The naked men and women whom you saw in a
structure that resembled an oven] they
are adulterers and adulteresses”. Bukhari
4.
An adulterer is
not a believer while committing adultery:
The following hadith was stated by the Prophet
(SAW),“An adulterer is not a believer at the time of committing adultery.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
EVIL CONSEQUENCES OF FORNICATION AND ADULTERY (ZINA):
There are bad personal, religious, social, economic, and health
consequences of zina such as: Poverty, constant humiliation and disgrace
Darkness of face, that would be obvious to people, darkness of the heart, HIV
/STDs, punishment, becoming insignificant in the eyes of people and in the
sight of Allah SWT. Ibn Al-Qayyim
may Allah have
mercy on him said, “Fornication and adultery combine
all evils; weakness in commitment to the religion, [as we can see] lack of
piety, destruction of mind men and women and the decrease of praiseworthy jealousy. You
will never find an adulterer or fornicator who is pious, fulfills his promises,
truthful in his speech, maintains friendship or has protective jealous over his
wife; he will be characterized by lies, deception, betrayal, devil- agents and
not being mindful of Allah."
There are also other consequences such as:
• Inviting the wrath of Allah the Almighty.
• Corruption of one's wife and children.
• Poverty and gloominess of the face, which will be apparent to
people.
• Darkness of the heart.
• Loss of the characteristics of chastity and righteousness and
becoming known as a sinful, betraying adulterer or fornicator.
• Not being classified as a believer in general.
• Being condemned as an evil person.
All these are consequences of zinaa.
