President Muhammadu Buhari

A sociopolitical group, the Arewa Youth Assembly, on Wednesday chided
leaders of southern Nigeria under the auspices of Southern Nigeria
Peoples Assembly (SNPA) for “whipping ethnic and regional sentiment”
against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a press conference addressed at the end of an emergency session of
the group in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, National Publicity Secretary of
AYA, Comrade Auwal Alhassan, told journalists that the statement
credited to elders from the southern part of Nigeria were “unbecoming”
of people who were supposed to bring elderly maturity on issues of
national importance.
“We met to deliberate on the charges against President Buhari’s fight
against corruption which they faulted and we have seen that their
charges are devoid of nationalist considerations. Nigeria has every
potential to become truly the giant of Africa but corruption has held us
hostage for too long and now is the time to correct this national
malaise,” Comrade Alhassan opined.
