Mega Party Or Mega Joke? by Jonathan Nda-Isaiah

Atiku-Abubakar

There are rumours making round that a mega party is on the cards. Aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC) and some members of the Markafi- led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) are planning a merger. The names of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and
national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu are being mentioned as key actors in the merger.
According to reports, the mega party is targeting 16 states which is almost 50 percent of the states. Serial presidential aspirant, Atiku has denied involvement in the merger; even Tinubu had to reaffirm his loyalty to the APC which, in the past few weeks, has had K- leg according to Nigerian parlance. I know Atiku and Tinubu are being clever by half as there is no smoke without fire. Most of the people denying their involvement know that once they are no longer under the cover of APC, EFCC will come calling.
Typical Nigerian politicians who are truth- impaired should know that Nigerian electorates are wiser now. The aggrieved politicians are not planning the merger to see how they can develop the common man and the country but for their pockets and interests.
The million dollar question is would Tinubu’s name be mentioned in the merger if his candidates in Kogi and Ondo had won?
Political parties in Nigeria are like Jesus’ bread which multiplies by demand and for how long will our politicians be moving from one party to another to fulfill their selfish desires? If they succeed in 2019, aggrieved members in the new party will be thinking of another merger in 2020. Clowns on the loose.
